年度により内容等は異なりますが、たいてい3種類のエッセイの提出が求められます。例年、キャリアゴール、International Experience、なぜMBA?なぜThunderbirdなのか?などがテーマとして課されることが多いです。参考までに2007年度、2008年度のエッセイ課題を紹介します。

[Essay A]
What international / cross-cultural background will you bring to Thunderbird and how will those past experiences add value to your classmates and to your future management assignment? (Please limit response to 1,500 words)
*You may choose to do an official admissions interview in place of this essay.

What are your short and long-term career objectives; how and why will a Thunderbird degree, combined with your past educational and professional experiences, enable you to achieve these objectives? (Please limit response to 1,500 words.)
[Essay C]
At Thunderbird, we recognize management as a true profession and that education confers not only knowledge and skills, but also a responsibility to use those skills for the betterment of society. Acceptance to Thunderbird therefore signifies the joining of a community with shared values that are captured in our graduation pledge, the "Thunderbird Professional Oath of Honor". After reading the pledge, please respond to either option 1 or 2 below. (Please limit response to 1,500 words.)

Option 1:
Describe a situation you have experienced while in a professional/social/personal setting that you deemed an ethical dilemma. What was your involvement in the situation and how was it resolved?
Option 2:
Both on the job and beyond the workplace, Thunderbirds have long contributed to making the world a better place not only for themselves but also for others. What social cause or global issue do you think deserves greater attention in order to "make the world a better place"? And what steps might be taken to further that cause or address the issue?
